'Student Spotlight' Cacao Orange Bliss Balls

Welcome to instalment six with my fellow students.

Today I'm introducing Domonique Young who has created a simple 'bliss ball' recipe with my favourite flavour combo...yay!

Over to you Domonique!

"My health philosophy isn't about deprivation or restriction. It's about nurturing and listening to your body and indulging - in the healthy kind - when the call comes! My Cacao and Orange Bliss Balls are guilt-free sweetness with a side of happiness.

I'm keen to spread the wings of Living Young far and wide, and help women transform their health and wellbeing. This July also marks its new beginning, as I take the plunge to do Holistic Health Coaching and Yoga Teaching full-time".

Recipe: Cacao and Orange Bliss Balls

Makes approx 12 medium sized balls.

Ingredients:

  • 100 g cashews
  • 100 g dates

'Spotlight Interview'

What first drew you to study with IIN?

I've had a lifelong interest in health and wellbeing and use to spend endless hours passionately researching all things related. Then as a yoga teacher, I'd often get asked about natural alternatives or different diets and could only answer from personal experience. I guess you could say it became the catalyst for me to look for a more formal education. That, and an inner burning to that there was something more in it for me. I looked at several courses and degrees, but was drawn to IIN's holistic approach to health and wellness, and the incredible lineup of lecturers.

How has your life changed since becoming a health coaching student?

Immeasurably! I don't think you can learn what we do throughout the course and not change as a person. I'm more open minded about nutrition and see the value in different ways of eating. I'm better educated about sustainability and the effects of our food choices. And more than anything, I've gained the confidence to chase and believe in my dreams.

What do you hope to take away into the world and how do you plan to help others once you graduate?

I love working as a health coach and hope to inspire women to cherish themselves through movement, nourishment and love. To feel young, and wildly free to live from their heart and rock the life they've always wanted. Think retreats, online programs and one-on-one coaching.

Being a 'wellness crusader' what one thing would you wish to change about the world?

That we all had access to fresh fruit and vegetables. And if the genie gave me three wishes, I'd add that soft drinks were banned and fast food chains didn't exist.

What would you choose for your 'final meal on earth'?

I'm addicted to cacao, so would love a delicate raw chocolate cheesecake with a glass of organic red wine! Actually no, a 6 course degustation of (my) memories, specially made meal by Heston Blumenthal. I love how that man thinks and works with food and excites all of your senses!
